It can be hard sometimes to know what to do to help your child if they have autism or any other kind of learning difference. You can sometimes feel very alone! This page gives you contact details for agencies and parent groups that can help support you and give you the opportunity to talk with those who can understand how you may be feeling or going through.
First of all, remember….
Just because your child has a learning difference, does not make them better or worse – it just makes them different! And who wants their child to be the same as everybody else. To be successful in learning children need to understand their strengths and weaknesses. They need to be able to make mistakes and learn from them in an environment that allows them to do so. Having a learning difference can sometimes be frustrating for parents as well as the child, but remember with the right support and encouragement they will flourish and succeed.
Be patient and understanding.
